REMOVAL OF SOLWEZI HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT CHEERED
VARIOUS stakeholders have welcomed the stance taken by Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya to remove the entire management at Solwezi General Hospital.
On Saturday night Dr Chilufya made an impromptu visit at the health institution and decided to remove the entire management team due to poor administration and negligence of patients care.
North Western Development Council of Elders has since commended the Health Minister for his decision. Organisation chairperson Luxas Chikoti said the he was very happy with the move the minister’s decision, saying it was long overdue.
He said there had been a lot of complaints from various stakeholders within the district in the manner the health institution was run. "We are very happy with that decision because the situation went out of hands. So the minister was very right to have taken that decision,” he said.
He said the action would help improve service delivery in the institution and send a message to other public institutions offering shoddy services.
"And this should be a warning to other institutions that were in a similar situation," he added.
And the Patriotic Front has commanded the minister for removing the entire management at the health institution. In a statement made available to the Daily Nation, PF provincial information and publicity secretary Tim Mushinge said it was a timely warning to others in positions of authority to be diligent and serve the people with sincerity.
And a Solwezi resident has also welcomed the move by the minister.
Mr Japhet Mokola said many people had lost lives due to negligence by personnel at the institution. "This should be extended to other institutions because it is not just Solwezi General Hospital alone were there are such people."
