I don’t regret ditching tribal UPND – Lifwekelo

- By SIMON MUNTEMBA

IT is scary to be in a tribal party whose leader not only entertains witchcraft but is also the biggest dictator, former UPND spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has said.

And Mr Lifwekelo said he regretted having left the Patriotic Front (PF) in the first place for what he termed as “a tribal and dead UPND.”

Mr Lifwekelo, who ditched the UPND early this year and rejoined PF told the Daily Nation in Lusaka yesterday that he was safe and sound in a Christian party, the PF under President Edgar Lungu.

He noted that Mr Lungu was President for all Zambians with a clear vision for the country who needs support of every well-meaning Zambian.

And reacting to social media reports that he regretted having left UPND as PF has failed to fulfil what it promised him, Mr Lifwekelo said that was not true but just propaganda machinery of the desperate UPND.

“I actually regret having left PF in the first place, I don't regret leaving a tribal and dead party. I am safe and sound in PF under the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu,

“I am extremely happy in PF because President Lungu is above petty politics. I was actually suffering in UPND and I regret having wasted time on people that are proud to talk about witchcraft and sleeping at grave yards,” Mr Lifwekelo said.

He added, “No wonder people still suspect some leaders in UPND to be Masons because of such pronouncements.”

Mr Lifwekelo said PF was a party for Christians not satanists adding that it was incomprehensible that the UPND can claim that he regretted having left the party whose leader seems to entertain people that believed in witchcraft.

“So people must ignore the rubbish making rounds on social media that I regret leaving UPND, how can I regret leaving UPND when I now live happily in Kabulonga?" he wondered.

In PF, he disclosed, hard workers are rewarded while in UPND you have to suffer the tribal tag.

“PF is here to stay and let UPND and their surrogate friends continue hallucinating,” he said.

Mr Lifwekelo who is now a senior PF member said President Lungu has embraced everyone in the party regardless of how long one has been a member which was not a case in UPND.

Mr Lifwekelo also attributed the UPND’s several electoral defeats to Mr Hichilema’s self-centred and haughty personality.

"UPND is a very undemocratic political party that will never govern unless they remove Hakainde the biggest dictator who doesn't want to hear about a convention.

"UPND is the most tribal and violent political party and has nothing new to offer the people of Zambia," Mr Lifwekelo said.
