MWILA NOT GOING ANYWHERE, SAYS COPPERBELT PF

-

By ROGERS KALERO THE Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt says it will not entertain calls to have party Secretary General Davis Mwila removed from his position.

Copperbelt provincial Information and publicity secretary Kelvin Sinyangwe said such calls were ill-timed and being initiated by people with personal and selfish interests.

Mr Sinyangwe said the party in the province was not in support of the calls on social media that the secretary general should be removed from his position because such calls were being made by some people who had teamed up against Mr Mwila.

The former Kitwe mayor and PF district chairman said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that the party in the province was solidly behind Mr Mwila to make sure that it moved with him up to 2021.

"We know that there are people who have teamed up against Mr Mwila and they want him to be removed from his position, but as Copperbelt PF, we will not entertain such calls.

"If anything, we would like to commend President Edgar Lungu for appointing Mr Mwila as secretary general. He has proved that he is equal to the task. He has done his best and has managed to visit all the provinces to send the message clear to district and provincial leaders," Mr Sinyangwe said.

And Mr Sinyangwe has advised those aspiring for various party positions to desist from conducting premature campaigns in the province, but to wait for the secretariat to issue guidelines ahead of the party elections.

Mr Sinyangwe said the party on the Copperbelt will not entertain people carrying out premature campaigns, saying such campaigns may only cause confusions.

“As a ruling party, we want to do things in an orderly manner and so we cannot allow people to conduct premature campaigns. Whoever wants to aspire for a party position, he or she should wait for the secretariat to issue guidelines.

"The other thing is that we should remain loyal to the party and President Lungu who has demonstrated humble, mature and inspirational leadership," He said.

Meanwhile, Mr Sinyangwe has said most critics of President Lungu have teamed up because their common interest was to fight President Lungu, but they may not achieve their goal because they were being driven by hatred, bitterness and vengeance.

Mr Sinyangwe said the common interest of most opposition leaders was not to serve the interests of Zambians, but to fight President Lungu so that they could also be in leadership.

"They have ganged up against President Lungu because they are so bitter that he became republican President. They are driven by hatred and this is why in most cases, it is rare that God gives leadership to such kind of people.

"Actually, you don't pursue leadership, leadership will follow you wherever you are. So when some people thought they were founders of PF and deserved to be the republican Presidents, God could not give them.

"When people thought they had money and deserved to be republican Presidents, God could not give them, instead leadership followed President Lungu when people thought, he was nothing," He said.
