ZRA cautions public

- By CHIKUMBI KATEBE

IT is not true that Zambia Revenue Authority is auctioning impounded vehicles in their possession, says corporate communication manager Topsy Sikalinda.

Mr Sikalinda said the advert circulating on social purportedly from ZRA suggesting that it would soon auction impounded vehicles in its custody through what was said to be a sales department, was untrue and must be ignored.

He said those involved in the creation of the fake social media advert were criminals targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

“ZRA would like to inform the public that when it is auctioning goods, it engages a professional auctioneer, which entity also advertises the auction sale in the print media.

And ZRA has dissociated itself from a Mr Anderson Phiri using mobile number 0972626166, that he was not its employee and that there was no sales department at ZRA.

ZRA has since advised the public to report anybody purporting to be its employees and involved in circulating such rumours which were false and bent on swindling innocent citizens.

Mr Sikalinda said they have since engaged the police and other investigative wings in tracing all those involved in the illegal acts such as circulating such adverts “with the intention of swindling anyone unsuspecting.”
