Citizens’ input vital for economic growth
ECONOMIC diversification will only be attainable when citizens respond to the government’s initiatives to promote economic growth, Zambia’s ambassador to Germany, Anthony Mukwita, has said.
Mr. Mukwita echoed the importance of economic diplomacy adding that to support the growth of supporting economic sectors like tourism and agriculture there was need for more players in the sector.
He expressed optimism that the Zambian tourism sector would grow and attain more visitors in coming years from Germany due to the mechanisms put in place.
“Through the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), the Ministry of Tourism implements government policy in respect of the tourism sector. For ZTA to succeed, the private sector needs to play its part,” he said.
He noted that based partly on the ZTA requirements, the Zambian embassy in Germany has developed what it is calling “A simple guide to Berlin for Zambians.”
“We are excited about these prospects that should forever change our tourism trajectory and we want to be attracting thousands and thousands of exhibitors and visitors from all over the world,” he said.
Mr. Mukwita says Zambia’s peace, tranquility and political stability has and will always be some of the factors taken into account by any visitor intending to visit the country adding that there is need to preach these factors in addition to the country’s many natural attractions and sites of historical significance.
