…as champion Muwowo defends his ABU flyweight title against Dalishe Komani of South Africa
By MICHAEL MIYOBA Boxing Union Flyweight Champion A(Glfrreedn Muwowo will this eveRonaldniKnagmt-hrow in everything to his championship when he faces South African boxer Dalishe Komani in the ABU Flyweight title bout at Government Complex in Lusaka. 20-year-old Muwowo target victory to defend his AOBFU Flyweight championship after knocking out Tanzanian Haji Juma on July 3. And speaking after weighing in for tonight’s fight, Muwowo said he was game to defend his title.
Muwowo, who changed his name to Muhamad Ibrahim Alfred Muwowo after becoming a Muslim said he had been in camp for the past six months to adequately for tonight’s fight.
“I am ready for the fight. I have been in camp for the past six months now and I can assure you that I will defend my championship,” said Muwowo
Muwowo’s coach Mike Zulu said his boxers Alfred Muwowo and Rolita Muzeya were ready for tonight’s fights.
“We are ready and I believe the boxers will be able to defend their belts and we are building a champion in Muwowo. The boxers are just in need of support from the general public,” Zulu said
Muwowo’s opponent in tonight’s fight Komani said that he was prepared for the bout.
The 35-year-old said his focus was to humiliate Muwowo in the ring and grab the ABU flyweight belt.
“I am well prepared for the fight and I am here to strip Muwowo off the belt, that’s all. This is an important fight for me so I will not take chances,” he said.
In other fights World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Rolita Muzeya and Ruth Chisala of Malawi will battle it out in the elimination bout.
Muzeya will seek to entice her local fans with her dangerous punches when she takes on the Malawian boxer to hold on to the WBC Welterweight title.
Meanwhile, former World Boxing Council bantam weight champion Catherine Phiri will seek to cash in herself from her defeat to World Boxing Council (WBC) super bantamweight champion Fatuma Zarika recenty.
Phiri will do battle with Rukia Nasilike from Kenya in a non-title fight.
Oriental Queries Boxing Promotions Mbiya Ngandu will face Exodus’s Ali Kabeya in the eighth round non-title bout while Lemmy Simbeye from Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions exchange blows with Zimbabwean Philip Musalili in the eighth round non-title light-middleweight bout.
