Mumbi Challenges Police: Arrest unruly cadres

- MUMBI PHIRI

“As PF we will not support or shield illegalities, even our members know that. Some who have tried to terrorize people in the name of the party are serving their jail terms as we are talking. No one has the blessing of the party to take the law into their hands, so we can’t even shy away from encouraging the police to do their job.”

POLICE should pounce on anyone terrorising innocent citizens or involved in illegal acts in the name of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF), deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri has said.

And Ms Phiri has accused desperate politicians of sponsoring youths to cause havoc while posing as cadres from the ruling party.

She said the PF did not promote illegal acts and anyone found wanting, despite their party affiliation should be considered as criminal and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Ms Phiri called on law enforcement officers to arrest all individuals involved in acts of terror regardless of their party affiliation. She explained that PF would not tolerate or shield any form of illegality as it believed that no one was above the law.

Ms Phiri said that anyone causing havoc, trying to disturb peace and make the country ungovernable should be considered a criminal and should be dealt with as the law dictates.

“As PF we will not support or shield illegalities, even our members know that. Some who have tried to terrorise people in the name of the party are serving jail terms as we are talking. No one has the blessing of the party to take the law in their hands, so we can’t even shy away from encouraging the police to do their job,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ms Phiri said that desperate politicians were sponsoring people to cause havoc while posing as PF cadres.

She reiterated that some opposition leaders, desperate to be at the helm of the nation were trying to plant seeds of discontent to paint the ruling party black.
