Beware of foreigners

- By ANNIE ZULU

A TRADITIONAL leader has warned Zambians to be wary of foreigners bent on causing confusion in the country. Chief Chipepo of the Tonga speaking people of Southern Province told the Daily Nation in an interview that Zambians should guard the country’s peace jealously, stressing that some foreign were keen to see that there was confusion in the country, so that they could take advantage of the situation. “The people of Zambia must always remember that their land is endowed with a lot of mineral resources which are the envy of many other countries. “So many foreigners would want to see that there are conflicts in Zambia so they would benefit from those problems,” said Chief Chipepo. Chief Chipepo underscored the need for Zambians to remain united regardless of political and tribal differences and guard the peace the country had enjoyed. The traditional leader said peace should be the priority of every Zambian, saying that the forefathers fought so hard for the peace that the country had been enjoying. “So much has happened lately, but the most important thing is that Zambians should always guarantee that they promote peace and unity and show love towards each other irrespective of their political and tribal differences. “It doesn’t matter which political party one belong to or which part of the country one comes from, we are all Zambians and we are one people. We should therefore live together in harmony and ensure that we safeguard the peace that our forefathers fought for,” Chief Chipepo added.
