Kapwepwe Ward to see more development in 2018 - Salubusa
MATERO’s Kapwepwe 25 Ward will benefit from the Lusaka 400-kilometre phase two road and drainage project which will commence in 2018 after the rainy season, says Patriotic Front councillor Patrick Salubusa.
Mr Salubusa said he looked forward to working with residents in the Ward who made it possible for him to deliver on key projects last year due to their support.
He said he managed to take close to 500 women back to school through the women literacy programme at New Chunga Primary School in collaboration with the Ward Development Committee.
In an interview yesterday, the civic leader expressed gratitude to the overwhelming support given to him by the community and cooperating partners such as the Lusaka City Council, Zambian Breweries and the church.
Mr Salubusa said 2017 saw the formation of the Know Your Neighbour Project (KYN) which attracted the support of the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy as a quickest response to garbage and crime because of the support of the community.
“As the year 2017 comes to an end allow me to thank all the residents and friends of Kapwepwe ward 25 who made it possible for me to deliver the little I have done for this ward in my capacity as councillor,” he said.
He said the new Lilanda Police Post was opened as well as furniture was bought for the facility and that Kapwepwe Crime Prevention Association managed to train neighbourhood watch committee members in conjunction with Emmasdale police.
The councillor said he lobbied for 10 ablution blocks for public schools, markets and clinics in the ward as well as 2,000 household toilets.
Mr Salubusa said the Kapwepwe Natwafwane Project was initiated as a response to funerals as well as helping the vulnerable in the community and also the construction of the Komboni Innovation (women and youth training) Centre.
He said this year new water and sewer pipes under the Lusaka Sanitation Programme would be erected and also a maternity wing at Lilanda Clinic.
Mr Salubusa said having had engaged the Ministry of General Education Twalumba Primary School would be upgraded to a secondary school.
