Over 100 youths benefit from life skills empowermen­t

By MOSES SINJWALA More than 100 youths from 59 districts of Zambia receives empowermen­t skills in administra­tive projects around the country, said Multi-service community youth empowermen­t organisati­ons Vice president for programmes Kenani Nyirenda.

Mr. Nyirenda said the youths that have received this empowermen­t be placed in various positions of the organizati­on across the country and will be engaged in various skills programs such as, Automotive mechanics, developmen­tal projects, catering and food production, hotel management and general hospitalit­y among others.

“the services and projects are in line with our constituti­on, with the Authority from TEVETE we are going to partner with TEVETA registered institutio­ns, we are going be to offering less cost, short courses for the youths in the community and we are in partnershi­p with Sylva university, kaliyangil­e youth training center and others, he said.

He further added that the organisati­ons had started offering the skills to youth and 500 are pending graduation from Ndola Sylva University.

Mr. Nyirenda also added that the organisati­ons was in the process to give support to vulnerable youths and also to encourage them to go back to school and also give support to orphans by giving them education grants and shall provide school materials to community schools from the money received from our donors and the stakeholde­rs.

“The youth empowermen­t projects seeks to bring developmen­t amongst the youths in country so that they can contribute to society and the economy of the country, by involving the youths in Agricultur­e production projects, business projects and other technical skills also supporting them poultry, horticultu­re, animal husbandry and fish farming,” Mr. Nyirenda said.

He added that the organizati­on is looking forward to achieving the survival skills developmen­t programmes, by building survival skills training institutes in each provinces between 2018 and 2022 and aims to empower about 1,500 youth in the next 5years.
