NORTH WEST PF WOMEN LEAGUE DONATES TO THE AGED

- By JACK MAPAPAYI

THE Patriotic Front (PF) Women’s League in North Western province have donated assorted items worth K5, 000 to 15 elderly women in Solwezi to commemorate New Year.

PF provincial chairlady Catherine Mukuma said the women league decided to donate gifts to the elderly because they were duty bound to help the needy in society.

Ms Mukuma noted that it was the duty of every well-meaning Zambian to help vulnerable people such as the elderly.

‘’As part of the new year celebration, we decided to show our love to our elderly women by way of giving them these new year gifts today,’’ Ms Mukuma said.

She said that the league in the province wanted to grow the party by way of embracing and sharing with others.

“Just like our able President Edgar Lungu has taught us to share, that is the route we are taking because we believe that through giving and sharing we will have more people on board,’’ she said

And speaking on behalf of the recipients, Alice Malaisho thanked the women for the donation.

She said she was delighted with the gesture by the women and urged them to continue with the same spirit.

She said the gifts had come at the right time when most elderly women could not afford to buy certain items such as mealie meal.

“On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to thank the party leadership for the donation, we are very grateful,’’ she said.

Earlier, the league presented gift humpers to the four New Year babies at Solwezi General Hospital.

The first male child was born around 00:43 hours while the second, third and fourth were born around 02:15, 03:06 and 09:20 hours respectively.
