Kwacha MP roasts Lungu critics

- By ROGERS KALERO

CORRUPTION allegations against President Edgar Lungu and the ruling party are a malicious campaign by some disgruntled politicians who are frustrated and bitter after being fired by the Head of State, says PF Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji.

Speaking yesterday when he donated 700 bags of mealiemeal to constituency, ward and branch officials, Mr. Malanji said those accusing President Lungu and the PF of being corrupt had failed to prove their allegations. “You find people saying he has stolen, he is corrupt, but when you ask them to provide evidence, they cannot. They are just frustrated and bitter people who want to fight President Lungu and the PF because they were fired for indiscipline. “They believe that if they mislead people about President Lungu, they will de-campaign the PF, but I am telling you to ignore them, they are just disgruntled,” Mr. Malanji said. He also advised some opposition leaders not to mistake spectators for supporters. “The problem is that sometimes when you are talking and people are laughing, you may think they are happy with what you are saying without knowing that they are laughing at your foolishness. “Just like spectators and supporters, you have to be careful, you may mistake spectators for supporters. They may be cheering you, thinking they are your supporters when in actual fact they are mere spectators,” he said Mr. Malanji also said government would work on roads and economic empowerment in Kwacha constituency. He said the Copperbelt 400 was real and that government was equally concerned at the roads’ bad state. “As MP, I will do my best in the constituency because I cannot fold my arms and wait for everything to come from government. I will do what I can afford but for bigger projects, government will come in. When government is quiet, don’t think it has forgotten. It is organizing resources,” he said. He also advised PF officials to intensify party mobilization. He said party leaders at various levels in the constituency should help the needy because leadership came with responsibilities. “If there is a funeral in your area, visit the funeral house and find out how you can help out. If they have a patient, find out how you can help out. Leadership is helping people and this is why I thought of celebrating New Year with you by giving you bags of mealie-meal. Let us live together like brothers and sisters,” he said.
