Hip Hop Single Sales: Eminem & Ed Sheeran Take Over The #1 Spot With "River"

EMINEM comes out at #1 on the R&B/Hip Hop Single Sales chart for the second time since Revival‘s announceme­nt, but this time it’s for his single with Ed Sheeran, “River.” SZA’s Ctrl single “The Weekend” shot up to #10 from #28, earning this week’s biggest gain and A$AP Ferg’s “Plain Jane” earns the week’s second-biggest gain, landing at #14 on the chart ending December 21, 2017.

This week, #1 belongs to Eminem, while Post Malone — who has long dominated the top spot with the 21 Savage-assisted “Rockstar” — has been set back to #2.

Eminem featured pop singer (and occasional rapper) Ed Sheeran on his Revival single “River” and since the project’s release, the song has gone #1. “River” has sold 64,028 in digital downloads so far.

SZA’s platinum-selling single “The Weekend” has hit #10 on the R&B/Hip Hop Single Sales chart. The popular single off her Grammy Award-nominated album Ctrl shot up the charts 168 percent and sold 13,691 in digital downloads for a total of 120,770 in sales. The visual for “The Weekend,” directed by Solange, was released on December 21.

SZA earned HipHopDX’s 2017 Year End Award for Best R&B Album of the Year for Ctrl and Best R&B Single for “Love Galore.”

“Plain Jane” is a single off A$AP Ferg’s second mixtape Still Striving, which has made huge strides on the R&B/Hip Hop Single Sales chart, climbing from #26 to #14.

“Plain Jane” has accumulate­d 11,539 in digital sales for a total of 79,043 records to date. That’s a 106 percent jump from the previous week.-HIPHOPDX
