Kambwili wants to confuse us - PF

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

CHISHIMBA Kambwili’s statement that he had a meeting with 15 members of the PF central committee must be dismissed, party deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya has said. Mr Bwalya said the statements were a cheap ploy to bring confusion in the party by propagating suspicion and unnecessary panic. Three days ago, Mr. Kambwili boasted of commanding massive support from the PF members and that 15 central committee members had met him and that those, together with the youth, who intercepted 15 trucks of Mukula logs, had the backing of the NDC. “To the real PF who are infuriated with the current president, do not worry I am here for you. Thank you to the 15 members of the PF central committee that came to see me this morning and pledged their support. I am glad we are still together and together we will fight for our country. “To these exemplary PF youths who I worked closely with during my time as national youth chairperson. I stand with you, the country stands with you and the NDC stands with you. Do not relent and do not fear weak little men like Kampyongo who think being Home Affairs minister gives them the right to threaten concerned citizens,” Mr. Kambwili said. But Mr. Bwalya said if Mr. Kambwili was an intelligent politician and that if his claims were true, he would have kept such a milestone achievement as top secret knowing too well that those people who allegedly sympathised with him would not be comfortable with him after the disclosure. “If truly 15 members of the central committee had gone to see him, as an intelligent politician, he would keep it as top secret because that is a big number which you cannot announce to the media.’’ Mr. Bwalya said. He said such blanket statements from Mr Kambwili would never shake the PF because the party knew too well that he was peddling lies to create an impression that he was a force to reckon with. Mr Bwalya said anyone who would support what the PF youths who intercepted and impounded the 11 trucks loaded with Mukula logs on Friday night did was promoting lawlessness because the youth had overstepped their mandate of effecting a citizen’s arrest.
