Water blues hit Mushili clinic

- By VIOLET TEMBO

WATER remains a challenge at the newly constructed government clinic in Mushili Township of Ndola on the Copperbelt.

The health facility is currently depending on one unreliable borehole whose water supply is erratic.

Bwana Mkubwa Constituency Member of Parliament Jonas Chanda said this in Ndola yesterday.

Dr. Chanda charged that Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company was sluggish in connecting the facility to the reticulation water system. Dr.Chanda disclosed that ZESCO had only connected the facility to the power grid after continued mounted pressure.

“I have been asking ZESCO for some time now to have the facility connected and they have finally done so and the only challenge we are facing is the issue of water shortages. He observed that water shortages posed a health hazard to health personnel, patients and their family members.

Meanwhile, Dr.Chanda has described 2017 as a transformation year for the constituency having achieved a major facelift in the road sector. Dr.Chanda said Ndeke and Mushili Townships witnessed newly constructed roads under the urban road rehabilitation, polytechnic and pave Zambia 2000 road projects. He added that upper Ndeke which had no water for the last 20 years, was connected to the main supply system. He also expressed dissatisfaction at the reported shortages of water in the area, stating that this had resulted in poor sanitation. He also reassured residents that the constituency Development Fund (CDF) will be used for the intended projects such as building of police posts, clinics and maternity wings.
