LUFWANYAMA PF TEAM INTACT

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

ASSERTIONS that the Lufwanyama PF district executive has defected to the National Development Congress (NDC) must be dismissed with the contempt they deserve because they are false and peddled by disgruntled individuals with intent to mislead the public, district information and publicity secretary Justine Mulenga has charged.

Early this week, social media was awash with reports suggesting the entire PF district executive in Lufwanyama had defected to the NDC due to bickering which had characterized the PF in the area.

But Mr. Mulenga dismissed the reports as mere speculation and that those who were holding meetings with NDC leaders were not PF party members but former members who were facing disciplinary cases in the party and that none from the executive was part of the said meetings.

He said the PF leadership and general membership in the district remained intact contrary to social media portrayal that the party was crumbing owing to NDC strength and infiltration and that party leaders had been swallowed by the opposition political party.

“The information which is going round in some sections of the media that Lufwanyama PF district officials have joined NDC is not true and we want to distance ourselves from such insinuations that we attended NDC meetings as those who did so were neither district party officials nor PF members because they are nowhere near our structures.

“Some of those people who attended the meeting are former PF members who had left because they were facing disciplinary cases. Some of them are just frustrated individuals who were left out during the formation of an interim committee by the provincial executive and because of their ego to be in leadership, they left,” Mr. Mulenga said.

He warned members who had divided loyalty to desist from issuing unwarranted statements by stating where their loyalty was rather than demonizing the district leadership in order to bring confusion in the party.

He said it was important for party members to embrace one another and work towards mobilizing the party especially at a critical moment as this when the party was preparing for elections from section to district level.

“I also want to warn people with divided loyalty among our members to stop misleading the masses on what is happening in the district. People must not be used by other individuals who have personal interests as this may divide the party if allowed.

“Those who believe that they have what it takes to be in leadership must use proper channels by contesting the forthcoming elections instead of engaging in unnecessary fights which will not help the party in any way,” he said.
