Four cheat death in road accident

FOUR people are battling for their lives after the vehicle they were travelling in careered off the road after hitting into a truck.

North Western commission­er of police Auxensio Daka said the accident occurred yesterday around 17:45 hours at Kyansununu area along the Solwezi Mutanda Road in Kalumbila.

Mr Daka said the vehicle, a Toyota Dyna registrati­on number ABZ 5390 was being driven by Albert Sibate, 41. The accident happened when the car Sibate was driving hit into a truck as he tried to overtake it. He said Sibate lost control and hit into a trailer and then careered off the road causing the passengers to be thrown off the vehicle.

“And due to the impact the passengers sustained serious injuries,” Mr Daka said.

He said the victims sustained multiple deep cuts on their foreheads, fractured legs and bruises.

In a related incidence, a 41-year-old woman of Meheba B Primary School has died being hit by a motor vehicle.

Mr Daka said the accident occurred yesterday around 20:00 hours at Meheba junction and identified the deceased as Jacqueline Jimbabalwa.

He said the victim was crossing the road when she met her fate. Mr Daka said the deceased sustained multiple head injuries.
