Judge mansion scam exposed
ONE of the country’s opposition parties is reportedly building a mansion in Ibex Hill for a judge on the Constitutional Court, a move that has raised eyebrows in political circles and some sections of society.
Some members of the public have however dismissed the claims, saying people should refrain from accusing Judges of such impopriety which hinged on questioning their integrity.
But Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) leader Wright Musoma yesterday told the Daily Nation that the opposition party had pumped huge sums of money into the project in return for favours pertaining to a high profile case.
Mr. Musoma said to leave no trace of the ploy, the opposition party was using a private hospital owned by one of its members through which the money was being channelled to the project.
“We have information that one opposition political party is building a mansion in Ibex Hill for a ConCourt judge and they are using a private hospital in Lusaka which is owned by one of their members to channel huge sums of money for the project.
“We are aware that this is a conspiracy and not a mere coincidence. However we shall not tolerate this kind of behaviour because we expect the courts to work independently without any interference,” Mr. Musoma said.
He said it was sad that his colleagues in the opposition had resorted to employing desperate measures to wrestle power from the PF without taking deep introspection and understanding what had made them become perpetual losers and rectifying their shortcomings.
Mr Musoma said it was not right for anyone to resort to underhand methods to get into power as doing so had huge repercussions to the future and direction of the country once such individuals formed Government.
