PF ITCHING FOR BY-ELECTION IN BAHATI

- By SIMON MUNTEMBA

TOP Patriotic Front PF brass are longing for a by-election in Bahati Constituency and are sure of a landslide victory should Harry Kalaba resign as Member of Parliament.

PF secretary-general, Davis Mwila has boasted that the party was itching for a by-election and dared Mr. Kalaba to quit as MP so that the lawmaker could be verified hopeless.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mwila said it was imperative for Mr Kalaba to step aside as it does not make sense for him to continue working under a party headed by the same President his government he labelled corrupt.

“I want to inform the nation that as a secretariat, we have received a petition from the Luapula provincial committee where they have stated that they want Mr Harry Kalaba to resign from the party.

Mr Mwila added: “We are not going to suspend him, but all we are asking him is to leave the party. How does he continue to serve the party under President Lungu whom he accuses of being corrupt?”

In another development, Mr Mwila has instructed the PF provincial committee of the Central Province to take disciplinary action against Kabwe Central MP Tutwa Ngulube.

Meanwhile, Central Province PF chairman Chanda Mutale said the committee will be sitting this Friday to discipline Mr Ngulube.
