Mukula interceptors are exporters - Kamba

- By ANNIE ZULU

YOUTHS who intercepted trucks of Mukula tree in Shimabala are allegedly into illegal trading of Mukula tree, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province Youth Chairperson Kennedy Kamba has disclosed.

And Mr Kamba has warned youths who align themselves to the PF in order to engage in illegal activities.

He said PF was a well-organised and decent political party and would not allow anyone to use the name of the party as a passport to engage in illegalities.

“If there are youths who want to align themselves to the party, they are very welcome, but we will not allow them to start using the name of the party so that they can start doing illicit activities.

“That is a very serious case, some of the youths, they want to join the party so that they can have a passport to do wrong things, but it doesn’t work like that,” he said.

Mr Kamba also said the youths, some of them purporting to be PF cadres were frustrated that their trucks were impounded by the security wings and decided to intercept the trucks which they thought belonged to some Government officials, when ZAFFICO were the owners of the trucks.

“The youths who impounded trucks of Mukula logs are the same youths who are dealing in Mukula tree. They are frustrated because their trucks were impounded by the security wings, so they thought that maybe some Government officials were managing to transport Mukula tree out of the country and this is how they rushed to Shimabala and impounded the trucks.

“To their surprise those trucks actually belonged to ZAFFICO, the institution which has been given the mandate to transport the confiscated Mukula tree on behalf of Government,” Mr Kamba said.
