92 Madido residents given title deeds

- By JOHN KOMBE

OUR main objective is to issue title deeds on all allocated pieces of land, especially state land, said Minister of Lands Ms. Jean Kapata.

Ms. Kapata said this when she issued title deeds to 92 residents of Madido ward in Chongwe district. She also disclosed that this exercise would not end in Madido.

“This exercise is in accordance with the PF government's aspiration to empower citizens with land. This will not end here, we will take this to other areas across the country as well," she said.

Area councillor, Mr. Mathews Ngosa has thanked government for issuing the title deeds to the 92 residents in his ward.

Mr. Ngosa told the Daily Nation that the people of Madido were very thankful to government for the gesture.

"To be given a title deed for land that has been yours only verbally is a dream come true. My people are very thankful to the government of Edgar Lungu for remembering them.

“Some of the people have lived on this land since 2006 without the surety of real ownership.

“The issuance of title deeds will bring development to the area. People will now feel motivated to invest and develop the land. This is a great asset to the people. The people of Madido are now title deed-richer," he said.

Mr. Ngosa called on all wellmeaning citizens to rally behind the leadership of President Lungu. “The Patriotic Front government is a pro-poor government. It aims at uplifting the status of the less privileged of our society.

“We are an example of what a pro-poor government can do. Some of our people never even dreamt of this, but it is a reality today. Let those who choose to doubt the leadership of President Lungu reckon such philanthropic deeds," Mr. Ngosa said.
