PF, UPND FOR UNCONDITIONAL DIALOGUE

- By SANDRA MACHIMA and CHITE MTONGA

THE Patriotic (PF) front has welcomed sentiments by the United Party for National Development (UPND) for interparty dialogue without preconditions on the part of both parties.

Patriotic Front secretary general Davies Mwila said the party was always ready to participate in the inter-party dialogue process that was spearheaded by the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID).

Mr Mwila told the Daily Nation that the patriotic front central committee had already given a position that it would participate in the dialogue process.

He said that ZCID was mandated to play a mediatory role among political parties and the PF was just waiting for the centre to conclude preparations for the dialogue process.

Mr Mwila said that inter-party dialogue did not only involve two or three political parties but should be about all political players in the country.

“We are a democratic party and as such we have no reason to shun a dialogue process that involves political parties and our stance has always been that we shall participate in the dialogue process that the ZCID is organising,” he said.

And the opposition UPND recently said that it was willing and available to participate in the upcoming dialogue to resolve challenges affecting the nation.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema noted that it was through genuine and unconditional dialogue would issues affecting the country be resolved.

Mr Hichilema said UPND was not setting any conditions for its participation in the dialogue, saying the willingness and availability to participate in the upcoming dialogue remained high.

“We once more reiterate our agreement with all the issues and observations made by the three church mother bodies.

“We urge them to speed up the process of pushing for the unconditional dialogue without further delays,” he said.
