THE outlook of Lusaka after the clean-up campaign will attract more tourists to the city, says Tourism and Arts minister Charles Banda.

Mr Banda said the directive by President Edgar Lungu to clean up Lusaka had made the city viable as a tourism hub.

He commended President Lungu for the clean-up campaign as it had enhanced the outlook of the capital city.

In a statement issued to the Daily Nation, Mr Banda commended President Lungu for the initiative to clean the city and that it was returning to its clean state. Mr Banda said Lusaka was once more viable as a tourism product worth visiting following the clean-up campaign to curb the outbreak of cholera.

He said the city looked attractive and good enough for any tourist to desire to visit and stay in.

Mr Banda said overcrowding and the unregulated vending made Lusaka appear like a village in a city

“There is now room for everyone to manoeuvre in town unlike the congestion that was in shop corridors that created some negativity about the city,” he said.

He also commended the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, Ministry of Health and the defence forces for cleaning the city.

Mr Banda who is Patriotic Front Kapoche Member of Parliament in Eastern , urged Pick N Pay outlet at Society Business Park, to keep their trading place clean as it was a source of food for many, including tourists.

He added that cleanliness must remain sustained even after the health issues are done away with.
