PF leader in trouble over blog postings

- By ROGERS KALERO

COPPERBELT PF Information and Publicity Secretary Kelvin Sinyangwe has been ordered to exculpate himself on why disciplinary action should not be taken against him following some postings on a blog linking him to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sinyangwe was ordered to exculpate himself from the allegations in a letter from the Party’s provincial executive committee.

PF Copperbelt provincial chairman Stephen Kainga confirmed that the party in the province had written to Mr Sinyangwe asking him to exculpate himself following some pictures on the blog where he was meeting with the NDC Secretary General Mwenya Musenge.

“You know what? That picture where Mr Sinyangwe was meeting Mr Musenge has raised too many questions than answers. Even people at the grass root level of the party are doubting Mr Sinyangwe’s allegiance to the party and President Edgar Lungu.

"With that picture, it is difficult to convince people that you are a genuine PF member. So it is for this reason that the provincial executive has decided to write to Mr Sinyangwe to exculpate himself. So tomorrow (Wednesday), we will be going for a meeting," Mr Kainga said.

But when contacted for a comment, Mr Sinyangwe said he had not received any letter from the provincial executive, but confirmed that the provincial executive was set to hold a meeting on Wednesday.

“Aah, I have not received any letter from the provincial executive, but am going for the provincial meeting. We will discuss more when I come back from the meeting," Mr Sinyangwe said.

Last week, Mr Sinyangwe rubbished postings on some blogs suggesting that he would soon join the opposition NDC, saying some desperate members of the opposition party were allegedly sending false and misleading information on the blogs to create an impression that there was an exodus of members from the ruling party.

But Mr Sinyangwe’s response has not been convincing to the party members who have been demanding a convincing explanation from him, especially that the pictures were taken in the NDC office.

And in a related development, NDC National Youth chairman Charles Kabwita on Tuesday afternoon around 12.20hours drove into the PF command centre in Kitwe behind ZESCO offices, saying he had gone to woo more PF members to join the NDC.

Mr Kabwita, who only found the provincial youth vice-chairman Stanley 'Chandindi' Mulumbwa and Nkana constituency Vice-chairman Edward Chitambetambe, confirmed that a picture of Mr Sinyangwe meeting with Mr Musenge was taken and posted on the blog to expose PF members who were denying the fact that they have been taken by the NDC.

He said, a former PF official in Chimwemwe ward identified as Kingsley Mukuma got the picture of Mr Sinyangwe meeting Mr Musenge and posted it on the blog to send a message that Mr Sinyangwe was NDC.

"Some PF members have been coming to meet us, in NDC, but they come out to claim to be genuine PF. So this time a picture of Mr Sinyangwe meeting with Mr Musenge was taken and posted on the blog," Mr Kabwita.
