MUSEBA, MUMBA BACK AT WARRIORS

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

KABWE Warriors have welcomed midfielder Wayne Museba and Steven Mumba from Mufulira Wanderers and Lumwana Radiants respectively where the two players were based on loan.

Warriors chairman Dingwall Heyden confirmed the development to Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka.

Heyden said the two players returned to the railways sponsored side due to failure by Wanderers and Lumwana Radiants to make the moves permanent.

“Players that have left Kabwe Warriors are Lawrence Mulenga and Lameck Kafwaya. Both have joined Power Dynamos while Moonga Ndala has joined Green Buffaloes.

“We have acquired a lot of new players among them are Wayne Museba and Steven Chulu from Lumwana Radiants. We have also welcomed back Joseph Chanda and Rodwel Simabwachi from Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy while Clement Mulenga returns from Zesco Vic Fall FC.

“These have returned because no one has written to us to extend the loans or sign the players on permanent basis,” Heyden said.

Meanwhile Warriors have continued to hunt for a new technical bench after the club opted not to renew Elijah Chikwanda’s contract which expired last December.

Heyden noted that the Central Province based super league outfit is now in the hands of caretaker coach Peter Mwila who is helped by Derick Mulenga.

“We kicked off our preparations for the new season on Tuesdays and write now the team is being led by Coach Peter Mwila and his assistant coach Derick Mulenga. The two are just caretaker coaches until the club finds a replacement for Coach Elijah Chikwanda,” Heyden said.

Elijah Chikwanda’s contract was not renewed despite having helped Warriors escape relegation last season with the Club finishing 14 on the 2017 MTN/FAZ super league table with 43 points.

Warriors are at the moment scouting for head, assistants and goal keeper coaches to drill the team to success in the new season which kicks off next May.

According to the advert, head coach must have CAF A or B license with at least five years’ experience while the two assistants must possess a CAF B or C license with experience as first assistant coach in the Zambian Super League.
