SHAKAFUSWA TAKES ON KAMBWILI …President where?

- By KALOBWE BWALYA

JUST because you come from Mporokoso doesn’t mean you should be president, former Katuba Member of Parliament, Jonas Shakafuswa has charged, insisting that there were better cultured and wise people. In direct reference to Roan Member of Parliament, Chishimba Kambwili, Mr Shakafuswa said, being president of Zambia should not be regional but on merit. “Some people think that when they come from Mporokoso they can become president, meanwhile there are other people who are better, cultured, and endowed with knowledge and wisdom who can do better than them. “So these guys who are making noise for me it is good for politics, but we will see if they have the capacity to bring in what is best for Zambia and being president cannot be regional, one needs to have good values,” he said. And Mr Shakafuswa said people should not be misled by expelled Roan MP Mr Kambwili over civil servants’ salary increment because he was making noise for political gain. Mr Shakafuswa described Mr Kambwili’s politics as cheap meant to gain political sympathy, further challenging him to tell the nation what role he played to fight corruption when he was a cabinet minister. Mr Shakafuswa called on people to continue rallying behind PF and President Lungu‘s Government because most of the opposition leaders vying for Presidency in 2021 were full of empty promises. The outspoken former Katuba MP also revealed that there were people making dirty deals in the name of the President who needed to be exposed because they were tarnishing his name and that of the PF government. “There are a lot of people who are making shoddy works in the name of President Edgar Lungu and we will not sit idle but will ensure that we push them so that they are exposed to the public,” Mr Shakafuswa said. In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Shakafuswa said there has been a lot of false allegations of corruption within the PF without any evidence being provided or reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission for possible prosecution. Mr Shakafuswa said the problem was a lot of people in the PF had presidential ambitions, so they will continue making allegations and making up stories meant to de-campaign the ruling party. Mr Shakafuswa said it was wrong for people to continue making allegations without providing any evidence.
