Too early to judge us - PF
IT is too early to judge us based on allegations of corruption some disgruntled elements are making, a senior PF member has charged.
Boniface Botha said in Chipata yesterday that the PF was only in the first year of its second term in government.
"It is surprising that those who are accusing the government of corruption are failing to leave the party because this government is the baby of PF.
"Some people who are in the PF Central Committee are also members of Cabinet. So if these former ministers feel there is corruption in the government, they should leave the party as well because it is the same people who plan and make decisions on how to develop this country," Mr. Botha said.
He was speaking on Breeze FM radio's political hour programme alongside PF Eastern provincial secretary Joseph Kolosa
He said the Anti-Corruption Commission must take keen interest in former information minister Chishimba Kambwili and his former Foreign Affairs counterpart Harry Kalaba's allegations of corruption and compel the duo to adduce concrete evidence.
He said it was unfair for Mr. Kambwili to complain that President Lungu was appointing former MMD members to Cabinet because whoever joined PF became a ruling party member.
Mr. Botha said as far as he was concerned, the PF was clean and most it's members led simple lives. "After the PF formed government in 2011, some people crossed over from MMD but after they saw that they could not achieve their goals through corrupt means, they went back.
"As far as I am concerned, we are clean because we do not lead lavish lifestyles," Mr. Botha said. He added that as far as he was concerned, President Lungu remained the best presidential candidate for the PF.
"So far so good and who else? No one. People on the ground are happy and we base this conclusion on the information our security gathers from the locals, not what is on social media.
"We are on the right track and I have not identified any area where we have not done well. All sectors are on track," he said.
On the same programme, Mr. Kolosa said Mr. Kalaba's resignation from his ministerial position had not shaken the PF and described it as a blessing in disguise.
