‘Lungu has shown leadership’

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu’s resilient fight against calamities that have befallen the country in the recent past gives hope that the nation is in safe hands, PF Mandevu constituen­cy secretary, Lemmy Bwalya has said.

Mr Bwalya said that in as much as the country had been hit by calamities in the recent past, the vigilance by government in fighting the misfortune­s was commendabl­e.

He told the Daily Nation that the swift action and resilience by the Head of State to ensure that calamities were curbed, gave hope to the Zambian people that the country was in safe hands.

Mr Bwalya pointed out that when the country was first hit by the army worms, the President was up on his heels to see to it that the crop eaters were faced head on. He said that President Lungu directed all relevant government institutio­ns to save the crop at all cost, without fail.

Mr Bwalya said that President Lungu was ready to make drastic decisions for the sake of serving lives and protecting the Zambian people.

“People are assured that the country is in safe hands even as we see different calamities befall our nation. The resilience by the Head of State to see to it that the fights against these calamities are won, at all cost is that assurance. “We saw how the fight against the army worms and economic sabotage was faced head on,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Bwalya assured the nation that President Lungu and his administra­tion were equal to the task and that people should give them the support.

He pointed out that the President had continuous­ly been leaving the comfort of State House to witness how battles against calamities were been undertaken. Mr Bwalya said that the Head of State could just be receiving reports from his officers on was on the ground on what was obtaining, but that his love for the people could not let him go that route. He called on the Zambians to support the PF government, as he pledged total support from Mandevu constituen­cy.
