Do wonders, Zesco told

By MICHAEL MIYOBA ZESCO Limited acting managing director, Fidelis Mubiana has challenged the league champions Zesco United to work hard to achieve great things during the 2018 soccer season.

Speaking during the launch of the K1,700 000 shirt sponsorshi­p between Zesco United and Atlasmara in Lusaka, Mubiana said that Zesco Limited was committed to render their continued support to the Ndola giants as they represent the country at various national assignment­s.

Mubiana commended Atlasmara for pledging to support Zesco United noting that the cooperate entity’s support will go a long way in helping the club as it targets to win the league title, the Barclays cup and the CAF Champions league title.

“I wish to implore Sesco United players to always keep in mind that as they wear the jersey, they are not just representi­ng Zesco United but the image of Atlasmara and Zambia as a whole so it is important to maintain high standards of play, management and discipline,” Mubiana said.

Meanwhile acting Minister of Sports Youth and Child Developmen­t, Kampamba Mulenga applauded Atlasmara for complement­ing government’s efforts in improving the standards of sports in Zambia.

Mulenga who is chief government spokespers­on said that government was happy to partner with deferent corporate entities such as Zesco United and Atrasmara who aim to improve the standards of sports from the grass root level.

“I would like to formally welcome Atlasmara to the sports arena and commend you for having found a formidable partner in Zesco United to achieve our goal of seeing Zambian football attain success within and beyond.

“I’m glad to learn that Zesco United has been working at grassroots level by grooming young footballer­s. Government is happy to partner with you in developing our communitie­s through sport.

“I am happy to learn that this gesture will also benefit the Zesco ladies team as a way of encouragin­g the girl child to stay away from negative vices. I therefore urge Zesco United to work hard and raise the Zambian flag high at national and regional competitio­ns,” Mulenga said.

And Atlasmara managing director James Koni reaffirmed his organisati­on’s commitment to contributi­ng to the growth of sports in Zambia.

Koni said that his organisati­on was glad to be associated with the giants of African football carrying the aspiration­s of many Zambians as it takes part in the CAF Champions league.

Meanwhile Zesco United chairperso­n Webster Musonda commended sponsors Zesco Limited and Atlasmara for supporting the team in its quest to make history by reaching the finals of the CAF Champions league.

Musonda said that the club was committed to achieving great results during the 2018 soccer season where “Team Yaziko” will participat­e in the CAF Champions league, the FAZ Super League and possibly the Barclays cup tournament.
