Lungu stance in Post saga hailed
President Lungu has been applauded for not interfering in the court processes that led to the liquidation of the Post Newspapers and the refusal to be manipulated by Fred M’membe.
Briefing Journalists in Lusaka yesterday, New Generation Party president, Humphrey Siulapwa applauded President Lungu over the stance he had taken regarding the affairs of the Post Newspapers. Mr Siulapwa said President Lungu was the only leader who had been impartial with matters surrounding the liquidation of the newspaper. He charged that the former Editor-in-Chief of the liquidated Post Newspapers, was an alleged manipulator.
Mr Siulapwa further charged that M’membe and the cartel had manipulated many leaders in Zambian politics and this had
him to default on the payment of the Newspaper’s tax obligations.
"M'membe has always called all our Presidents thieves yet he is the one who has been caught in the web of crime," he said.
Mr Siulapwa further commended the liquidator of the Post Newspaper, Lewis Mosho for carrying out his duties diligently.
A week ago, the Lusaka High Court declared the Newspapers insolvent following a court consent judgement between the parties. The paper was declared insolvent as it only had assets worth K11.2 million while its liabilities were in excess of K160.2 million. The consent judgement was signed between the petitioners; ZRA and Post Workers(Andrew Herbert Chiwenda, Roy Habbalu, Bonaventure Bwalya, Mwendalubi Mweene and Abel Mboozi) and the respondent; Post Newspapers provisional liquidator.
