Kambwili lies, again
CHISHIMBA Kambwili has made another dramatic U-turn by claiming that he supported The Post newspaper when in fact not.
On May 13, 2015 when he featured on a live programme on Radio Yangeni in Mansa, Mr Kambwili said he did not like The Post newspaper and further described the publication as stupid.
Mr Kambwili, who was then Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, also explained that government could not enact the Access to Information Bill because The Post was going to use it to axe him and the Patriotic Front out of power.
“Enacting the Access to Information Bill is like giving a child an axe which will eventually be used to cut you. We don’t want to give you the axe to cut us,” Mr Kambwili bragged.
It was on the same programme where Mr Kambwili expressed his initial presidential ambitions to take over the leadership of PF and government.
“Who told you I don’t want to be president?” Kambwili asked the presenter, Mumbi Mumbi.
Mr Kambwili however said he would give chance to President Lungu to serve two terms of office before he could launch his presidential campaigns.
“I also want to be president but I will wait for President Lungu to finish his two full terms,” said Mr Kambwili.
But on Friday, Mr Kambwili changed his position on the Post newspaper and condemned the liquidation of the company.
Speaking when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s ‘Let the people talk’ programme, Mr Kambwili said he did not want The Post closed.
When the Presenter, Luchi, reminded Mr Kambwili that he was on record of having threatened to close down The Post when he was serving in government, the embattled Roan MP struggled to give a satisfactory response.
