President sounds warning …we shall part company over poor works
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday opted to travel by road instead of flying to Mulilansolo in Muchinga province in order to have a feel of the road works being done and was not pleased with what he found.
The President who was scheduled to travel to Mulilansolo area by air instead travelled by road and was disappointed that the road has not yet been worked on.
He has warned that he will part company with people who are delaying developmental projects in the country.
And President Lungu said he would conduct on-the-spot checks of developmental projects which Government was undertaking country wide.
He said 2018 was a year of action because promises had already been pronounced.
He noted that Government was spending colossal sums of money on the projects hence his move to conduct on-the-spot checks this year.
The Head of State was speaking in Chinsali district yesterday at a mammoth rally held at Mulilansolo school grounds.
“This year I will be going around to all parts of country so that I see for myself how these projects are progressing and ensure that all the projects initiated by the Patriotic Front are completed,” President Lungu said.
The President said he was disappointed that some projects in the country, especially in Muchinga Province had stalled.
“I have seen for myself how a lot of projects have stalled, some projects such as roads and bridges have delayed because of laissez faire attitude by the people engaged.
“I will follow up this matter and I will find out what the problem is and those that will be found wanting, I will have to part company with them,” he said.
The President took a swipe at the slow pace at which the 70 kilometre stretch on MulilansoloChinsali road rehabilitation works were being undertaken by the named contractor.
President Lungu is in Muchinga Province for a three-day official working visit.
The Head of State is accompanied by Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Michael Katambo and Minister in the Office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa among others.
He is expected to inspect various developmental projects being undertaken in the province during his visit in the area.
