PF Govt still pro-poor - Mwakalombe

THE Patriotic Front Government is still a pro-poor government and those suggesting otherwise are simply politickin­g, Lusaka Province Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe has charged.

And Mr Mwakalombe revealed that President Edgar Lungu's administra­tion has made huge investment in the heath sector because economic developmen­t can only flourish in a healthy nation.

Mr Mwakalombe, who is also Chongwe Member of Parliament, said this yesterday when he handed over two boreholes and cases of chlorine to various communitie­s in his constituen­cy.

The boreholes had been sank with assistance from Muslim Social Welfare Trust at a cost of K 30, 000 while the chlorine was donated by Gabriel Couto Company as part of its corporate social responsibi­lity.

Mr Mwakalombe said government was committed to uplifting the living standards of the people by initiating policies tailored to address critical challenges facing the country.

“The opposition should not cheat you that we have developed a blind eye to the challenges you are facing. We know the problems you are going through and we are addressing them accordingl­y.” He explained that in Chongwe, for instance, government was aware that the people had challenges of road network and water and sanitation.

“Government under the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu has embarked on the constructi­on of roads such as the Ngwerere road. We are also engaging the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company and other cooperatin­g partners to bring piped water to this area,” said Mr Mwakalombe as residents cheered.

Mr Mwakalombe was accompanie­d by Chongwe District Administra­tive Officer, Laura Gondwe and senior officials from Gabriel Couto Company and Muslim Social Welfare Trust

And Mr Mwakalombe said huge investment was being made in the heath sector for economic developmen­t to flourish in the country.
