DMMU to the rescue of head teacher

- By PETER MALASHA

THE Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) in Mkushi has donated a tent to Mukulaulo primary school head teacher.

Mkushi District commissioner (DC) Luka Mwamba who is also DMMU chairman confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in an interview.

Mr. Mwamba said the DMMU under the Vice President’s office has donated a tent to Ms. Mary Mukosha who had the roof of her house blown off by a hailstorm recently, leaving the family in the cold.

Mr. Mwamba said the tent which could accommodate up to 10 members of the family will protect the family and property and ensure they are in an enclosure.

The DC also praised Ms. Mukosha for hard work and being brave stressing that despite facing challenges, she withstood the pressure and continued to perform government duties.

“I really thank Mukulaulo primary school Head teacher for her commitment to duty and for being courageous during this trying moment.

“A weaker person would have vacated the place a long time to somewhere else where there is proper accommodation. But with her, she is still here despite living in the structure not suitable for habitation,” Mr. Mwamba said.

Receiving the tent, Ms. Mukosha thanked government for the gesture as well as for responding to the distress call on time.

“I am happy that government has come forward to donate this tent to my family. I really thank government through the office of the DC for the gesture and for caring for my family,” Ms Mukosha said.
