Antonio Mwanza sets record straight

I am not after money

- By ANNIE ZULU

“I DID not join the Patriotic Front (PF) for money, but to contribute and be part of the

spokesper-… solution to the challenges of the Zambian people,” former Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) son, Antonio Mwanza has said.

Mr Mwanza charged that those spreading lies and accusing him of joining PF for monetary gain were just bitter that he chose the ruling party over their political parties.

He said his decision to join PF had nothing to do with money, but was purely to be part of the solution to the country’s challenges.

Mr Mwanza said this when he featured on Radio Phoenix’s let the people talk programme yesterday.

“This noise is coming from those that have nothing to say about me, so the only thing they can say is that I have followed money in PF, but that is totally

untrue. God has deposited so much in me and that cannot go to waste for the sake of opposition.

“Money doesn’t define me, I was paid well by the FDD and If I wanted money, I would have joined Levy Mwanawasa, Rupiah Banda or Michael Sata, because I have sat with these Presidents and they have made their offers but I never moved.

“I am also a qualified graduate from UNZA, I would have left politics where I spend sleepless nights every day, working for the people of Zambia and concentrate on my career,” he said.

And Mr Mwanza has urged PF members not to listen to those raising unnecessary issues regarding his appointment as deputy media director for the party.

He said members should instead remain united and focus on serving the party and the Zambian people.

He said his appointment as deputy media director should not cause confusion among members, saying he was as equal as any other member in the party.

“I have not joined the PF to take over the party, I have joined PF to be as ordinary as any other member, doing what every other member is entitled to do. Let us look at a bigger picture and see that we in PF, together we can achieve greater things. I am not any extra special,” Mr Mwanza said.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwanza has advised the opposition that insulting President Edgar Lungu and his Government everyday would not put them in office in 2021.

He said the opposition should rather concentrate on telling the Zambian people what they would do if they were to govern the country.

“You think by insulting President Lungu every day, you will somehow end up leader of the country, it doesn’t work out that way. The only thing you have is Edgar Lungu, ngati Edgar Lungu achokapo, what are you going to tell the people of Zambia?” he said.
