Embattled councillor tells off UPND
By PETER MALASHA EMBATTLED Chibefwe ward councillor Geshom Musonda has accused the United Party for National Development (UPND) in Mkushi of plotting his downfall.
Councillor Musonda told the Daily Nation that he would not waste time responding to unfounded allegations as he was aware of the ploy to put pressure on him to relinquish his position as councillor before 2021 elections.
Mr. Musonda however urged the UPND youths to concentrate on organising their party for 2021 elections which according to him, they would again lose including Chibefwe ward.
Councillor Musonda noted that people were interested in seeing that township roads were worked on, hospitals constructed as well as provision of safe and clean water to the public as opposed to politicking without shame.
Mr. Musonda also urged the UPND to engage technocrats at the council as opposed to troubling the council chairperson.
He further observed that UPND would continue losing elections because of leaders such as the party’s Chibefwe ward youth chairman Wisdom Kashoti who Mr Musonda said had nothing to offer apart from noise.
He urged all the aggrieved to see the council officers as opposed to be giving false information to party cadres who are far from the truth.
Meanwhile, a pressure group led by Emmanuel Chanda has demanded that the Itala market committee releases the comprehensive report over the transactions on the market stall plots allocation.
Mr. Chanda said marketeers as stakeholders had a right to know what transpired as regards the stall plots allocation which was spearheaded by councillor Geshom Musonda.
“We want to know the total number of people who bought the stall plots and how much was raised. We also want to know how the 16 stall plots were not accounted for. Transparency and accountability must apply on this matter.” Mr. Chanda said.
Mr. Chanda also questioned the authority of councillor Musonda who he said belonged to education committee but found himself allocating plots to applicants.
