Commission of inquiry noble cause - BRE
ZAMBIANS should support the commission of inquiry into the voting patterns and electoral violence because it is for a good cause, says the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in Mwandi in Western province.
Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta said the establishment of the commission by President Edgar Lungu was commendable and should be supported by all Zambians.
And commission Chairperson Munalula Lisimba said the commission could not manage to visit all the districts to get submissions due to limited time and resources.
Justice Munalula Lisimba said this when he paid a courtesy call on the chief at his palace in Mwandi district.
Meanwhile, the BRE Kuta in Mwandi has submitted that the electoral violence was largely caused by political party cadres.
The Kuta said political leaders failed to control their cadres a situation which had also influenced violence and the voting pattern.
It stated that those at the top fail to control political party cadres as they were the ones who managed issues during political campaign periods.
Other issues raised by the Kuta were that the rule of law was not being observed in Zambia, a situation that angered people forcing them to vote in a particular manner.
The Kuta also said that the unequal distribution of resources had also been observed as an issue that had influenced the voting patterns.
It further stated that lack of development in other parts of the country was one of the factors that contributed to people voting in a particular manner. - ZANIS
