Msoni immature
IT IS cheap and immoral for All People’s Congress president Nason Msoni to drag the name of President Edgar Lungu and the first family in his cheap politics where he himself has dismally failed to make a name, Zambia Republican Party president Wright Musoma has warned.
Mr Musoma said it was unfortunate that a senior citizen in the caliber of Mr Msoni could cast grand corruption charges against the Head of State and the first family through hostile media just to gain cheap popularity.
The same sponsors of hostile media, he said made similar corruption aspersions against 2nd Republican President Frederick Chiluba and 4th, Rupiah Banda, who were both acquitted by the courts of law.
Mr Msoni was quoted in the media as saying President Lungu together with his family were headed into exile owing to his alleged involvement in corrupt activities in his Government.
Mr Musoma said the APC leader could not convince the Zambian people on those allegations because they knew him as an inconsistent leader who has failed to make an impact on the Zambian political scene with flimsy allegations of corruption against President Lungu and his family.
“What Mr Msoni is doing is not right and not in the best interest of this nation.
“President Lungu is a family person and he should be respected. Let us draw a distinction. Let us not draw his family into politics, it is not right especially when people are even lying about the first family,” he said.
He said it was clear what Mr Msoni was trying to do in all the corruption allegations against the Head of Statement, but that it was an open secret that he was joining the bandwagon of shameless doomsayers.
He explained that the Zambian people were aware of such allegations meant to discredit the first family and would not entertain such cheap talk.
He charged that Mr Msoni was so inconsistent that if invited for a state banquette today, he would turn around on his allegations and begin showering the President and the first family with praises.
The opposition leader said there was nothing wrong in criticizing bad decisions by the President or his Government, but that it was unacceptable to begin making sweeping statements without providing evidence to the relevant authorities.
