CHONGWE COUNCIL CHIEFS REPLACED

- By JOHN KOMBE

CHONGWE municipal council has replaced the senior management staff sent on leave last month. The replacements are however, in acting capacity as the suspended officials await their fate.

Assistant public relations manager, Mr. Musonda Mino told the Daily Nation that, the acting Town Clerk and directors in Finance, Advocacy, Accounts, Human resource and Administration among others have all been appointed and resumed work.

“We are happy to have the acting directors as this will ensure that the council does not suffer any set back. This will also ensure that all projects are implemented as planned. The council is still very much active and will ensure that all the projects that were started are executed and completed as planned” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mino could not comment on the state of the constituency development funds in the council account. He however, revealed that council was in the process of formulating a project pre-implementation plan which would be submitted to the Ministry of Local government for approval.

“The council received project proposals and they have been analyzed and the projects to be implemented have been identified. Our engineers will now get on the ground to assess the projects before we submit our proposals to ministry for consideration,” Mr. Mino said.

Mr. Mino assured the people of Chongwe not to worry about the possibility of project failures. “We have been working and are currently carrying out the keep Chongwe clean project. Our council police is on the ground and working with the state police to curb illegal trading in all wards. This is a clear indication that we are still very much active and no function has suffered. We are even more hopeful that we will even do more now that the acting directors are here,” he said.
