THE Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) which supports the ‘Know your neighbour initiative’ aimed at reducing crime in communities and changing people’s mind-sets in the management of waste has visited Matero’s Kapwepwe Ward 25 to check on the progress of the project.
Patriotic Front (PF) councillor, Mwamba Salubusa said he was humbled that ICLD training officer, Astrid Nunez and her team found time to visit the Ward last Tuesday and inspected the house and the schools that received awards for the Clean and Green awards during the launch of the project last week.
Mr Salubusa told the Daily Nation, that although he was not present to receive the Swedish team because of a meeting at Lusaka City Council, he expressed happiness that the ICLD team were well received by the Ward Development Committee (WDC).
“I am happy that even if I was not in the ward due to some assignments at the Civic Centre Ms. A strid Nunez of the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy and her team were well received by the smart people of the ward who form the and the Know Your Neighbor Local team,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Ms Astrid, Danny, Joan and Charity for visiting Kapwepwe ward 25 and he expressed hope that their visit gave them an opportunity to evaluate whether or not the Ward had proper leadership to take the ward and the KNY in particular to another level.
