‘HANG’ WINS KUDOS FROM LOCAL FILMMAKER
LBy TERENCE MISELO OCAL actor and filmmaker Robby ‘Big Rob’ Nyirenda has described the Owas Ray Mwape newly launched film ‘Hang’ as a good product with its own style and interesting storyline. Speaking in an interview after he attended the Hang’s premiere in Lusaka last Saturday, Nyirenda said the film has a combination of good acting, interesting storyline and is set in its own style from the usual local films in as far as the story is concerned.
“On a scale of one to ten, I would surely give it eight. This is mainly because it is slightly away from the usual. It is a comedy that has its own unique style and very good acting. I particularly enjoyed the roles and acting from veteran Evans Nkoya, Henry BJ Phiri, Max Mwape and some new characters that Owas has introduced,” Nyirenda said.
On the short falls from the film, Nyirenda said the sound was quite challenging and he believes some characters were exaggerating their roles.
“Sound was a challenge in some parts and I noticed some actors were a bit out of the way. But all in all, it is a good production and a relief to have comedy after ‘Red Bag’,” added Nyirenda.
And Nyirenda believes the production of lots of local films in the recent past shows the industry is growing. He however urged filmmakers to invest heavily in the market and promotion of local films.
