MOTOR RALLY IN K100,OOO MADMAX FILLIP

MAuto Spares have announced a K100, 000 sponsorship package towards the staging of the National Rally Championship opening round on March 3 to 4. During the launch of the kick-off of the 2018 National Rally Championship at Lusaka Motor Club yesterday, main sponsors Madmax reaffirmed their continued support to the Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA).

Madmax marketing manager Nyambe Maboshe said the company had ejected K60, 000 cash and K40, 000 for incidental issues.

“We are excited to open the 2018 season and confident of a competitive year. The company is glad to partner with a sport which will give us great value,” Maboshe said.

He however bemoaned minimal government support towards the sport.

He said it was heart-breaking to watch the winner of the seven round championship walk away with just a trophy.

“If government can set aside a fraction of budget that goes to football, we will get more glory than grief. Motor sport has more international medals than any other sport and it’s time we made it competitive by combining resources to ensure the winner at least gets a car and not just a trophy,” he said.

ZMSA president Sam Ching'ambu commended Madmax for their immense support towards the development of the sport.

And rally commissioner Muna Singh announced the return of 2015 African Rally Championship winner Muhammad Essa which he said will enhance competition this year.

The qualification stage will be held along Freedom Way on March 3 and the following day the main event will shift to Chisamba at Graham Rae farms with 25 drivers expected to participate.
