NEPAL LOOKS TO ZAMBIA FOR INVESTMENTS

- By KALOBWE BWALYA

NEPAL’s Minister of Industry Sunil Thapa has urged the business community in his country to consider investing in Zambia.

Speaking when Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga called on him in Kathmandu, Nepal, Mr Thapa expressed happiness to note that in 2010 Zambia was captured among the fastest growing economies in Africa.

Mr Thapa also said the two countries should now make progress by formalising co-operation through ministries and chambers of commerce and industry.

He said Zambia and Nepal shared similar challenges and opportunities because both countries were land locked.

“My ministry will do everything possible to expedite cooperation between Zambia and Nepal in the interest of industrialising the two countries,” Mr Thapa said.

And Ms Kapijimpanga said President Edgar Lungu‘s government wanted to work with countries such as Nepal to industrialise Zambia.

Ms Kapijimpanga urged the business community of Nepal to take part in this year’s Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show as well as other international exhibitions to explore business opportunities in Zambia.

“I am urging you to take part in Zambia’s Agriculture and Commercial show to explore business opportunities in Zambia,” said Ms Kapijimpanga.

This is contained in a statement released to the Daily Nation by first secretary for press at the Zambian High Commission in India, Bangwe Naviley.
