K12m allocated for stalled West projects

A TOTAL of K12, 000,000 has been allocated towards the completion of priority infrastruc­ture projects that have stalled in the area, says outgoing Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu.

Mr Mubukwanu said following the presidenti­al directive that projects which were nearing completion should be worked on first, the province would start working on the projects immediatel­y,

Mr Mubukwanu said the province would begin works the projects as soon as it was possible in line with President Edgar Lungu’s directive.

He President Lungu had directed the treasury and all spending agencies to urgently constitute a special taskforce to expedite the completion of infrastruc­ture projects which had stalled across the country.

Mr Mubukwanu told the Daily Nation that government was in a hurry to ensure that the facilities that were being built for the people in the province where put to use.

He said that the provincial administra­tion had targeted to complete a considerab­le percentage of projects before the end of the year.

Mr Mubukwanu said the decentrali­sation programme the Patriotic Front administra­tion was spearheadi­ng would help provinces to own projects.

“The provincial administra­tion plans to complete some of these projects quickly and money will first go to priority projects as per presidenti­al directive,” he said.
