Arrows challenged on super league

...as ZAF Commander wants outright wins

ZAMBIA Air-Force (ZAF) Commander, General Eric Chimese, has challenged Red Arrows Football Club to win the FAZ super league which is expected to resume on March 3.

Gen Chimese said time had come for the Zambia Air Force sponsored super league outfit to win the league as they were a capable team. Speaking during a press briefing held at ZAF offices in Lusaka, Chimese said the Air Force would remain committed to supporting the club it prepared for the new season.

He disclosed that Arrows will tomorrow fly to Spain where the team will set up camp in readiness for the new soccer season.

“Red Arrows is one of the best ranked teams in Zambia and that is why I’m urging the team to win this year’s super division. ZAF will continue to support the team in its quest to deliver the super league,” Chimese said.

Arrows recently announced the signing of seven foreign based players from various countries across the African continent. The airmen signed Kenyan goal keeper Ian Otieno from AFC Leopards while defender Elvis Bissong was acquired from Victoria United in Cameroon. Ghanaian Daniel Adoko was recruited from Kingfesa FC while the airmen also snatched Justine Zulu and Andrew Tololwa from AFCLeopard­s, Yanga FC in Tanzania and Kenya respective­ly.

Others include Carrington Gumba and Samuel Ssekamate from Donbosco and KCC of DRC and Uganda respective­ly.

Meanwhile the airmen strengthen­ed their squad with local players such us under-20 AfCON winner Chrispin Sakulanda who left Mufulira Wanderers after the club was relegated to Division One.s

Sakulanda is joined by former Nkwazi defender Derrick Mwansa and former NAPSA Stars winger Chisenga Lukwembe. Others include former Lumwana Radiants striker Josphat Kasusu and Sadm Phiri who was recalled from relegated City of Lusaka FC.
