Retain our nurse - Chief Mboroma

-

By PETER MALASHA THE government must not transfer the nurse-in-charge at Mboroma health centre, Senior Chief Mboroma of the Lala and Swaka people of Luano and Mkushi districts has ap- pealed.

The chief’s plea has been supported by neighbourhood health committees and his subjects who protested against Cynthia Kaonga’s relocation from the Mboroma health facility to another centre.

This came to light during a meeting addressed by Luano district commissioner Christopher Chibuye and attended by Senior Chief Mboroma and other stakeholders at the Mboroma health post.

He said he was against Ms. Kaonga’s transfer to another centre because of her diligence and commitment to work.

He said Ms. Kaonga was industrious and humble to patients, hence the need for her to be retained at the health post.

“As senior Chief Mboroma together with the community in particular mothers, we are against the transfer of Cynthia Kaonga from Mboroma health post to another station because of her hard work.” Senior Chief Mboroma said.

He said Ms. Kaonga delivered quality health care to the people in the area.

Senior Chief Mboroma also donated a new door and padlock to the renovation of Ms. Kaonga’s house, which was reported to have a damaged door.

And Mr. Chibuye commended Ms. Kaonga for her dedication to duty and hard work.

He said Ms. Kaonga had performed her duties to both government and the community’s expectation. He said her performance and work attitude had been exemplary.

“This is the reason the community has protested against Ms. Kaonga’s transfer because of her commitment and dedication to duty. Let other government workers emulate her working culture. This shows that this worker has a calling in her line of duty,” Mr. Chibuye said.

He further appealed to the community to embrace and support whoever would be transferred to the centre to replace Ms. Kaonga.

Speaking earlier, Luano district health director Cane Simachenya assured the Mboroma community that Ms. Kaonga would be replaced by two female nurses if she was transferred.
