Madmax rally gets Madison cover
General Insurance Company, has insured the Madmax national motor rally that revs off this weekend with the total distance of 137.78 kilometres.
The long-time partner of the Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA), Madison would provide cover for both the drivers and the spectators. It has also extend group cover to the officials.
Madison managing director Chabala Lumbwe was impressed with ZMSA executive’s consistence, accountability and transparency in how they run the sport.
“We are happy with how you run the sport which has grown and made a mark on the African continent. This is the reason why we have continued to support the sport.
“We will provide our public liability, which covers spectators, in case of any accidents. And also extended it to the organisers of the event,” Lumbwe said.
However, he challenged ZMSA to consider hosting a cross country event away from the usual events.
In response, ZMSA president Sam Ching’ambu said the executive would look into the idea of a cross country event in the shortest possible time.
Ching’ambu thanked Madison for their unwavering support towards the growth of the sport.
Meanwhile, defending national champion Muna Singh Jr promised a dare driving competition this weekend.
“The aim is to defend the title. We are ready and set for this weekend’s rally. And thank you to Madison for making us feel safer with this insurance,” Singh Jr said. But his competitor Geoffrey Chulu said not even Singh Jr would stop them from wining the opening leg of the national rally.
“We are a small team but never underrate us. The car is ready and geared to outride everyone. We are not intimidated by any name,” he said.
And Mohammed Ali promised a competitive race.
Deputy Clerk of Course Elmandy Gumbo said 15 drivers had confirmed participation but was expecting the number to go up before the deadline of registration.
Gumbo said the qualification stage was set for Freedom Way at a distance of one kilometre on Saturday and urged the spectators to watch from the designated places which will be shown to them to avoid accidents.
The main event will be staged at Graham Rae Farms in Chisamba the following day.
