Lungu’s leadership anchored on chiefs’ leadership
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu’s leadership is anchored on traditional leadership because he wants to work with chiefs in developing the country, says Central Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kabwe.
Mr Kabwe said this is not the time for politics but development and is the reason why the government wanted to work with traditional leaders through their village headmen in the country.
Speaking during the handover of buildings materials for the multipurpose hall at Chieftainess Mungule’s palace, Mr Kabwe said the Head of State was not interested in politics but in taking development to all parts of the country although some people are questioning his good intentions.
“This time there is no politics, as government, we want to bring development so we want each and every headman in the country to work with the government of the day to achieve that,” said Mr Kabwe.
He said is was unfortunate that some people were busy fighting the developmental agenda of government but that would not deter them from working for the betterment of the country.
Mr Kabwe said as government they felt sorry for people that are busy politicking because between now and 2021, the country has a President whose mandate is to develop the country.
“We feel sorry for those who are fighting us, as for us we will continue to work because between now and 2021 we have a President who is focused on taking development to all parts of the country,” said Mr Kabwe.
Speaking earlier, Chief’s council chairperson, Jonas Shakafuswa said the chiefdom was not looking for politics but development and it was for that reason all headmen in the Chiefdom are working with the government.
Mr Shakafuswa said President Lungu’s efforts in taking development to all parts of the country as witnessed in Ndundumwezi where he got no vote in the last election shows that his leadership goes beyond political affiliation.
“All the headmen of Mungule Chiefdom want development and they are working with the party because the President has shown that his love for the people of Zambia goes beyond political affiliation.
Mr Kabwe on behalf of President Lungu donated 5 000 blocks and 200 pockets of cement to Chieftainess Mungule at her Kakoma Palace for the construction of a court room, office space for her Royal Highness and conference room among other facilities.
