ZAMAF picks 17 Karatekers

THE Zambia Martial Arts Federation (ZAMAF) has selected 17 Karatakers ahead of the 2018 region five Karate championship to be held next May in Botswana.
ZAMAF president, Munyarazi Mangaba confirmed the development in a statement issued to Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka.
Mangaba noted that preparations were progressing well with the team looking forward to mint medals in Botswana.
He noted that the team, under the leadership of Head Coach, Allan Mumba and Andrew Mbangu from Green Buffaloes Karate Club, is camped at Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Lusaka.
“Preparations for the 2018 region five Karate Championship to be staged in Botswana are progressing well. The team under the tutorship of Coach, Allan Mumba and Andrew Mbangu is camped at YMCA.
“19 Karatekers from across Zambia have been selected to represent Zambia at this year’s edition of the region five karate championship,” Mangaba said.
Speaking earlier in an interview with Daily Nation Sports, Mangaba said his association was committed to qualify Zambian Karatekers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Mangala noted that ZAMAF will work hard to prepare Karatekers who would qualify for the Olympic Games after taking part in regional tournaments. He noted that ZAMAF was commitment to improve karate as a sport in all the ten provinces of Zambia. “We have three tournaments which we have to participate in but our main objective is to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo, Japan. We are working very hard to ensure that our Karatekers can qualify for the Olympic Games,” Mangaba said.
“Right now we have Karatekers from Muchinga, Southern and Lusaka Province who have already reported for camp,” Mangala said.
