Communication tower finally installed in Uppermusofu
GOVERNMENT through Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has started installation of cellular communication tower at Uppermusofu Primary School in Mkushi. This is in a bid to improve cellular communication in rural areas where the communication network has been a challenge. Speaking in interview with the Daily Nation, Musofu ward councillor Attlee Chipabila said the move had cheered residents in the area who had been yawning for cellular communication for a long time. He said the 85m long Zamtel communication tower would cover a radius of between 30 and 40km. The civic leader said he was delighted that his area now had two Zamtel communication towers that would improve and make a difference in communication. Councillor Chipabila added that people were happy with government for responding to their calls at the time when the service was mostly needed. “This is a milestone for people of Uppermusofu and surrounding areas. The gesture by government is a right step in the right direction. Government has demonstrated leadership and that it cares for its people. “The development has marked change and beginning of development for people in the area because where there is communication, development takes place. The era for people of Musofu climbing trees and ant-hills in search for network will soon be a bygone,”councillor Chipabila said. Mr. Chipabila appealed to the government to erect more cellular communication towers in his ward so that people could communicate freely within and outside the ward.
